16 Fantasy Witch Books For Adults New To 2026

Fantasy witch books for adults are an absolute personal favourite of mine, not just because they make great reads, but because they invite you into a world of magical thinking. As an adult with adult problems, escape is often MANDATORY, and what better way than through fictional books about witches.

As an adult life can be very logical and structured. Most of us wake up early and commute, and work and come home, and look after our house and then try and make time for all the ‘healthy habits’ we promised we would keep up at the new year. And although these subtle routines can end up being quite comfortable, there often feels like there’s something… missing.

And that, my fellow witchy readers, is magical thinking.

When life becomes busy and structured, imagination is usually the first thing to go. We get stuck in logical thought loops, overthinking, and low-level anxiety. As children, we naturally escaped into worlds of make-believe- through games, stories, and imagination that felt limitless. But somewhere along the way, we stopped.

And when we stop using our imagination in adulthood, it starts to show. We become less creative in solving problems, less resilient in the face of change, and less fulfilled in our day-to-day lives.

Because a life without imagination is a very bland one.
