Talk tea to me
As a home body, I have learned to love the intentionality of a routine that exists to bring me comfort. And, with the weather getting colder, there is no greater comfort than tea. When consumed intentionally, tea has a restorative power that quite literally gives you a glow up from the inside out. So sit down, light some incense, and let me tell you about tea and the surprising benefits that come with it for you and your body.
Spearmint (Mentha Spicata)
Spearmint tea is a personal favourite of mine. As a girl who previously struggled with PMDD, and her hormones, starting the day with a warm mug of spearmint tea has helped me in so many ways.
Sensually, it is a morning boost of freshness. Physically, it possesses a variety of interesting properties that (may) help to regulate hormone imbalances, this makes it particularly helpful for girls who struggle with PCOS, hirsutism, and even ovarian cysts. Spearmint reduces male hormones such as testosterone in the female body, while increasing female hormones such as LH, FSH and estradiol. By lowering women’s testosterone levels, it can also help reduce facial and body hair in women.
This tea has a warm and minty taste and it is the highlight of comfort. This tea is best enjoyed in the form of loose leaf, and in the morning.
Blackberry leaf tea
Blackberry leaf tea is a delicious addition to any morning routine, it is packed with antioxidants and bacteria fighting properties. Additionally, blackberry leaves contain nutrients such as Vitamin C, Magnesium, iron and vitamin K.
It is thought that blackberry tea attracts wealth and prosperity, it is best enjoyed while manifesting.
Mugwort Tea
Not only does this tea sounds like its straight out of Harry Potter, it also has some surprising magical benefits. For one, it helps with sleep and can be used to bring about strange and vivid dreams. If you suffer from insomnia this could be an interesting tea to try. The tea itself is bitter so is best mixed with some syrup, and is best enjoyed in the evening for its relaxing benefits.
Mugwort tea also thins the blood which helps onset a period and causes subtle uterine contractions , which is why you shouldn’t drink it if you are pregnant.
