1. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Yes, you may have seen Julia Roberts shining bright on the big screen, but did you know that Eat, Pray, Love was a book first? It is actually a memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, documenting her personal search for happiness after her divorce.
Not many people are brave enough to leave everything they know behind and embark on a year-long journey to find happiness, devotion, and balance. 2. How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
If you don’t know who Caitlin Moran is, you have a lot of reading ahead of you and you may as well put down this list and start now. Moran is one of my favourite writers and a powerful advocate for women’s self-love, for good reason. Her “pussy power” manifesto is something all women need to hear, regardless of age.
Her writing is brutally candid, hilarious, and binge-worthy. It will have you laughing on buses and reading passages out loud to friends. This is a must-read for feminists everywhere.

4. The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest
This book feels like a meditation from your favourite self-love guru. It firmly belongs in the emotional healing category and is especially helpful if you feel like your biggest obstacle is yourself. I see it everywhere on “top self-love books” lists for a reason. Although it wasn’t personally my favourite, I can understand why it resonates with so many people. Read this when you are feeling lost.
5. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy
This picture book is gorgeous and an absolute must-read. It’s one of those books about self-love and healing that you keep on your bedside table and pick up whenever you need a sliver of comfort. You can open it anywhere and find a message about inner strength. My mum gifted me this book when I was a teenager, and I still flick through it to this day.

6. The Dark Between Stars by Atticus
Slightly different from the other self-love books on this list, this is a collection of poetry, but it absolutely deserves its place here. This beautiful book explores love in its wild and untamed forms. Atticus writes with a raw honesty that encourages readers to embrace and love their own imperfections.

7. 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think by Brianna Weist
This has been sitting on my TBR for a while now, and I feel like I’m going to end up reaching for it when I need it most. I see 101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think everywhere, and it really does sound like one of those books that shifts your perspective in the best way.
It’s not the kind of book you binge in one go, which I actually love. It feels more like something you pick up whenever you need a reset or a bit of clarity. From what I’ve heard, each essay is short but impactful, exactly the kind of thing I gravitate towards when I’m trying to work on my mindset.
I have a feeling this is going to be one of those books I keep coming back to, especially when I’m feeling a bit lost or overwhelmed. Definitely one I’m excited to finally read.
